I Have Just Been Told I Am Not Closing on My Close Date!
About 30% of the time, a contract does not close on the date agreed to in the contract. Don’t panic. Most likely it will close in the next 7 days. The GAR contract states that the buyer can give unilateral notice if they need more time to close or the seller can give notice if there is a problem with the title.
Notice can be given in writing or verbal as long as it is given before the closing date, which expires at midnight. We prefer for it to be done in writing so if someone contacts you first about this, please call or write the Contract Department so that we can do an Amendment to exted the closing.
Possession time continues with the extension of the close date.
